Vizio Inc. (stylized every bit VIZIO) is an American publicly traded company that designs and sells televisions, sound bars, viewer information, and advertizing. The company was founded in 2002 and is based in Irvine, California.[7]

The company was founded in 2002 as 5 Inc. by entrepreneur William Wang and 2 founding employees.[8] [9] By 2004, Wang changed the company name to Vizio.[x] [11]

In 2006, the company's revenue was estimated at around $700 meg, and in 2007 it was estimated to have exceeded $2 billion.[12] Vizio is known for selling its HDTVs at lower prices than its competitors.[7]

On October xix, 2010, Vizio signed a 4-year contract to sponsor U.S. higher football's annual Rose Bowl game in Pasadena, California, beginning with the 2011 Rose Bowl and ending with the 2014 Vizio BCS National Title Game.[13] When the Rose Bowl contract concluded, Vizio signed a contract to sponsor the Fiesta Bowl making the official name the Vizio Fiesta Bowl.[xiv]

In late 2014, Vizio caused Advanced Media Enquiry Grouping, Inc., the parent of amusement website BuddyTV.[fifteen]

Vizio produces telly sets and soundbars and has previously produced tablets, mobile phones and computers. Vizio manufactures its products in Mexico, Cathay, and Vietnam under agreements with ODM assemblers in those countries.[49]

Television set sets [edit]

Television receiver sets are Vizio'south primary product category, and in 2007 the company became the largest LCD Tv seller (past book) in Northward America.[l] In February 2009, Vizio announced they would stop production of plasma televisions and would focus on the LED-backlit LCD displays .[51]

Sound bars [edit]

Vizio has previously produced other products in addition to televisions and soundbars.
